Program Objectives
The Diploma in Psychology and Management provides a balanced blend between knowledge acquisition and applications. This program focuses on the applications of psychology in service management and general workplace.

Education pathways
Individuals who complete the diploma can apply for our other programs-BSc Counselling Psychology or B Applied Social Sciences (Counselling) or BA Counselling & Management.

Introduction to Psychology
In part 1, individuals learn to understand and appreciate the nature of human behaviour. This module provides an in-depth study of the role of psychology in today's world and its relevance as a social science to the workplace. Individuals gain a solid foundation in psychological theory and the relevance of its application in life. In part 2, individuals will learn to conduct an experiment in operant conditioning or open field exploration.

Psychology of Business
This module provides an understanding of the impact of organisational structures and managerial strategies on organisational and people behaviour. Individuals learn the impact and effect of change on individuals and organisations, the dynamics of personality, the issue of occupational stress and health related issues, the overall relationship of management and organisational structure and their impact on the performance of individuals and the impact that people have on the organisation's efficiency and effectiveness are also examined.

Process of Management
Locates the process of management within a conceptual framework which highlights the contribution of managers to the ethical, effective and efficient provision of goods and services. Individuals will also be introduced to the legal framework for the safe, fair and effective management of organisations. The range of management theories, organisational structures and cultures will also be examined.

Service Operations Management
This program explains the inter-relationship of distribution management, marketing processes, physical distribution channel selection and materials management, logistics mix, role of quantitative techniques and information technology, planning and control techniques in distribution management.

Life Span Development
This is a study of the psychological development of the individual from conception through adulthood, examining the processes of change and the influences affecting the developing person including motor, language, social and intellectual skills across the lifespan.

Social Psychology
This introduces social psychological research and theory regarding everyday behaviour. Examples of topics include social influence, attitude change, and obedience to authority, stereotyping and prejudice; social cognition; social interaction and group processes; interpersonal attraction; pro-social behaviour; and everyday human judgment.

Neuro-Linguistics Programming
Individuals learn to identify the components of the Meta Model - developing an understanding of and proficiency with the relationship between language and behaviour using linguistic principles. Also, individuals develop the ability to appreciate other people's maps of reality and to gain the behavioural flexibility to respond appropriately to different people in ways that honours the individual.
